Optimist club hears about coat project (Local News ~ 12/06/18)
The Turnbow Project Warm Coats program was the theme of the November meeting of Shelbyville Optimist Club. The Optimist Club and area churches will help with donations of coats for the program again this year. Guests at the meeting were Ellen Treadway, First Presbyterian Church; Sam Blevins, Bedford County Schools Warm Coats coordinator; Melanie Hamilton, First Presbyterian Church; and Whit Turnbow. Bedford County native Estella Peacock Harvey recently signed her new book, “ABC’s from Granna’s Porch” for family, friends and the public at Shelbyville Recreation Center. The local Wreaths Across America observance made its goal over the weekend of funding 1,300 wreaths to be placed on the graves of veterans at Willow Mount Cemetery.
