FFA donation (Local News ~ 12/20/18)
The Shelbyville Central High School FFA chapter made its annual Christmas donation of toys to Junior’s House, an agency dedicated to bringing together child abuse victims and the Child Protective Investigative team in one location. Its goal is to lessen the trauma experienced by victims of child abuse and their families and to increase the awareness of the problem of child abuse and abuse prevention. (Submitted photo) -

Domestic violence suspect stopped in stolen truck (Local News ~ 12/20/18)
The driver of a truck reported stolen in November faces multiple charges after his arrest Tuesday Dayton Dewayne Warren, 36, was stopped by Bedford County deputy Brandon Jarrell after allegedly making threats to two adults and two children at a Charlie Russell Road home. Smotherman honored by peers (Local News ~ 12/20/18)
Bedford County Highway Superintendent Stanley Smotherman, who will retire at the end of January, was recognized Tuesday by the Tennessee County Highway Officials Association. Smotherman served as chief highway administrative officer for 20 years and another 20 years before that as an administrative staff person in the department. Fuel, oil spill controlled (Local News ~ 12/20/18)
Diesel fuel and motor oil spilled into a creek running alongside Happy Valley Road north of Bell Buckle when a Haynes Brothers Supply Co. truck overturned after its driver lost control Wednesday morning. The spill was quickly contained by crews from Bell Buckle and Bedford County fire departments. The truck’s driver wasn’t injured. (T-G Photo by David Melson) -

Boys & Girls Club of Bedford County, on Madison Street, has a new director, Ralph Buckingham. Buckingham, a native of Bell Buckle, has worked for the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department as well as other youth development organizations. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, and member of the Pi Gamma Gamma chapter of Omega Psi Phi. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and presently serves as a minister at the Kings Chapel Church of God in Christ in Wartrace... -
Adequate facilities tax to be increased (Local News ~ 12/20/18)
Bedford County Financial Management Committee voted Tuesday night to recommend raising the adequate facilities tax, a tax on new residential development, to $1.33 per square foot.
