Destinations & Diversions: Eaglepalooza tries again, plus motorcycle racing (Local News ~ 02/28/19)
The top item in last week's "Destinations & Diversions" column was a pair of Eaglepalooza concerts at Shelbyville Central High School. Well, that was before Mother Nature intervened. Last weekend's concerts were cancelled as a result of local flooding, and they've been replaced by a single concert which will take place 6 p.m. Saturday in the SCHS auditorium... -
Meth discovered on homeless person (Local News ~ 02/28/19)
Meth was found Tuesday on a woman who told police she was homeless during a vehicle search. Brenna Nickaye Howard, 22, pulled a small bag of meth from her clothing as she was being questioned, police said. A search revealed syringes in the car, being checked by police after a report of a suspicious vehicle at a Wartrace Pike apartment complex. Officer David Curley's report said it appeared Howard and another woman, who was not charged, were living in the car... -

Shelbyville Rotary Club will again present the Harlem Wizards basketball team, who will bring their comedy, audience participation and ball-handling skills to the Shelbyville Central High School gym at 6:30 p.m. March 12, facing off against a local all-star team composed of Scott Reed, Jared Jones, Jimmy Hittson, Aaron Reid, Jennifer Gray, Zach Spears, Brian Crews, Jeff Haynes, Heath Fanning and other community leaders. ... -

All the world may be a stage, to paraphrase Shakespeare, and one local man is making his own contribution to theatrical work. Will M. “Bud” Melson, 89, died Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. Memorial service 12 noon Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Allen Cross officiating. Visitation begins at 10 a.m at the church. Arrangements: Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
