County saves $6M with bond refinancing (Local News ~ 04/02/19)
Bedford County Mayor Chad Graham signs documents on Monday refinancing $34 million in county bonds for a total savings of $6.44 million in interest over the next 18 years. That’s even more than the $5.5 million in savings which had been estimated when the refinancing was approved in February; the bonds ended up selling for a more favorable rate than first anticipated. The refinancing package keeps the same term as the original bonds, and evens out some high and low bond payments from the original bond issues in 2006 and 2007. Cumberland Securities served as the county’s financial advisor for the refinancing.
