A set of wheels and tires behind a Madison Street auto dealership were tempting to a man who Shelbyville police say they caught allegedly attempting to steal them early Saturday. Alejandro Martin Ontiveres, 29, of Warners Bridge Road told police he wanted to see if the wheels would fit his truck. Reed, red and read (Local News ~ 04/16/19)
Learning Way Elementary Assistant Principal Christi Lux, left, and Principal Kathy Reed were recently challenged by their students to dye their hair red and then some in conjunction with their read “Miss Malarky Leaves No Reader Behind,” which is a book about a principal coloring his hair purple and sleeping on a roof after students read 1,000 books. There was so much excitement about the leaders coloring their hair, the two administrators also agreed to read 5,000 books. Learning Way students are ahead as they’ve read over 8,000 just this year. “Mrs. Lux” dyed her hair rainbow colors while “Mrs. Reed” dyed hers an eclectic pink, blue, and purple. “They love it!” said Reed, who was still sporting the hairstyle last week. -

Shelbyville City Council is revisiting its long range plan, appointing long-time member and former mayor Henry Feldhaus to represent the city in decisions relating to tourism and economic growth.
