Administrative professional winner (Business ~ 05/15/19)
In honor of Administrative Professionals Day, The Simmons Team from Heritage Realty Group held a contest on its Facebook page for people to vote for their favorite administrative professional. Emily Whaley was the winner of the drawing. Emily is the bookkeeper/receptionist at Thomas Magnet School. Emily was nominated by her co-workers and parents of Thomas students. Hwy 55 holds ribbon-cutting (Business ~ 05/15/19)
Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries, 1020 N Main St., Suite K, held a Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, with owner Brad Jones holding the ceremonial scissors. The 1950s-themed chain restaurant offers full table service, hand-made hamburgers, cheesesteaks, frozen custard and other treats, and also has an outdoor seating area for use in good weather. Childrens’ meals are delivered in a box shaped like a 1950s-era convertible, and 1950s music plays on the sound system. Members of Beta Iota Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha held their May meeting at the home of Janie Burke with Linda Nichols serving as co-hostess. Officers for the 2019-2020 year were installed by outgoing president Sharon Lowery. New business was discussed including programs for the upcoming year. John Howard Burnice Lamb, 62, of Shelbyville, died suddenly Monday night, May 13, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Bill Doak officiating. Burial will follow in Smotherman Cemetery in Rutherford County. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday.
