A centennial celebration for the Wireman (Features ~ 08/03/19)
A centennial celebration for Vannoy "Wireman" Streeter, 1919-1998, will be held Sunday, Aug. 25, at The Fly Arts Center on South Main Street. The event will include a fish fry, special tributes, guests and demonstrations. Attendees are invited to bring their favorite Vannoy Streeter pieces to display. Streeter's grandson Rod Cleveland, who now produces pieces in Streeter's style, will give a demonstration during the event. Door prizes will be available... -
Wartrace Horse Show tonight (Local News ~ 08/03/19)
The 113th annual Wartrace Horse Show will take place this evening (Saturday) at Jernigan Field in Wartrace. Founded in 1906, the oldest one-night horse show in Tennessee is often a key warmup for horses hoping to do well in the Celebration. The show benefits Civic Enterprises of Wartrace, a joint venture of Cascade School PTO and the East Bedford Civic Club, and the concession stand is famous for the homemade desserts donated by volunteers.
