Bedford County Mayor Chad Graham and county commissioners Greg Vick and Brian Farris attended the White House Inter-Governmental Affairs Conference last week in Washington D.C. Graham called the meeting "an eye-opening experience." Young 9-1-1 caller honored by sheriff's department (Local News ~ 08/13/19)
A young Bedford County boy has been honored by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office for calling 911 on behalf of a family member during a medical crisis. James “Jasper” Small “kept his wits and composure by getting on the phone and calling 911 for immediate medical help,” the BCSO said. “He then guided the first responders to where the individual was. His action potentially prevented a tragedy.” Jasper was presented him with a BCSO commendation for bravery and a BCSO challenge coin and patch. -

Eugene Ray, 82, of Shelbyville died Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 17 at Fairlane Church of Christ. The body will lie in state from 9-11:30 a.m. with family visitation 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Burial will follow at Wlllow Mount Cemetery. Nelson & Sons Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. -
