Wartrace firefighters give back (Features ~ 12/28/19)
Wartrace Fire chief Adam Smith and alderman Tammy Leverette stand with the food and toys they were able to collect for families in need of some help to have a good Christmas. Volunteer firefighter Jesse Julien spearheaded the effort, the first time the department has held this drive. With help from Iron Horse Pizza, Murfreesboro Aviation and the annual 41A Toy Convoy, the firefighters raised $5,650 for the project. -

I had good intentions of being a full participant in the decade; but other things kept coming up, and suddenly the 2010s are about to pass the torch to this century's version of "The Roaring Twenties."...

Holiday memories warm the heart

Another Christmas has come and gone. Presents opened....and then put away somewhere. Used wrapping paper bagged up and put out with the trash. Leftovers from the Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas morning breakfast put up in the fridge. Yet, new memories have been made, and unlike the colorful wrapping paper and the delightful meals, those memories will last a lifetime...

It's not often that I get to mark something off my bucket list, but recently I got to do just that. For my birthday this year, my husband, Larry, took me to Huntsville, Alabama, to spend the day at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center! It was a lifelong dream of mine to see some of the artifacts from our space exploration such as the shuttle and some of the rockets that took our astronauts into space... -
