Farmers are slowly working their way into a very interesting spring, considering recent beef prices and many other concerns. Still, it is lovely to see many farms as beautiful as this one still in operation in Bedford County. -
Shelter agents help non-profits (Local News ~ 05/14/20)
Submitted Photo Shelter Insurance foundation has approved $1.5 million in crisis relief for its communities served, giving each Shelter agent $1,000 to use within their charity of choice. The company realizes most charities rely on fundraisers and due to COVID-19 they were not able to have events. Local Shelter agents Maleah Claxton and Tina Davenport agreed on two charities, so together they were able to donate $2,000. Left to right, agent Claxton, recipients United Way Executive Director Mark McGee and First Choice Pregnancy Counseling Center Director Angela Rasnick and agent Davenport. First Choice offers a unique blend of expertise and client-centered care for women and families facing unplanned pregnancies. United Way of Bedford County, through employee campaigns in local businesses and industries, conducts fundraisers to support a variety of local non-profits. The groups have not been able to have fundraisers this spring due to the pandemic. -
Reeds reignite ‘Middle Tennessee Hearth & Home’ showroom (Local News ~ 05/14/20)
Ronnie and Beth Reed opened their business, Middle Tennessee Hearth & Home, 206 Deery St. on March 16; they locked it down again on March 22, following advisement from Gov. Bill Lee in regard to COVID-19. This is not exactly how these new Shelbyville merchants wanted to start off their sales trends, but as they’ve reopened their showroom this week, business has taken back off at a nice pace... -
Driver flees after car takes plunge (Local News ~ 05/14/20)
The driver of a car that plunged into the duck pond on Fairfield Pike Tuesday night has been charged with DUI, Shelbyville police said. Arriving officers found a submerged Toyota Camry and were given a description of a man seen running away. Steven Leverette was found by police sitting under a tree in a yard on Edmond Road a few minutes later... -
Dylan Copeland named IT student of the year (Local News ~ 05/14/20)
Dylan Copeland has been named the 2019-20 Shelbyville Central High School Career-Technical Education Student of the Year. Dylan was nominated for the award by his Information Technology Instructor, Larry Shelton. Within the Information Technology program of study, Dylan has completed courses in Computer Science Foundations, Web Design Foundations, Web Site Development, Computer Systems, Networking, and AP Computer Science Principles; he maintained an “A” average in all of these classes. Dylan has been a three-year member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) where he served as Treasurer. Dylan competed at the FBLA National Conference the past two years as well as FBLA’s District and State Level Conferences. . ... -
