Miss Mary Bobo's Restaurant and the Lynchburg Hardware & General Store also closed temporarily. Distillery operations have continued as normal. Forget chill, heat's here to stay

There will be scattered thunderstorms around Bedford County this weekend; it will be very warm and humid with high temperatures in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s. Next week we will cool off a little bit with highs in the low 70s. Quite a change to go from frost and freeze last weekend to the 80s this weekend. This was our last frost and now the growing season can begin for the lawns and gardens and flowers. I expect our temperatures to bounce right back into the 80s from May 22-28...

A Shelbyville church has been defrauded of $13.600 by someone using counterfeit checks, police were told Wednesday. Leaders of Bird Street Church of Christ told police checks using the church’s name and routing number were issued to a Juan Pablo Diaz Gomez on April 18 and 19. Mid May was deadly in the COVID-19 pandemic in Tennessee. In eight days (May 7 through May 14) 53 more Tennesseans died from COVID-19. One more person died Wednesday in Bedford County bringing that total to four. Nationally, as of Friday, 85,843 people have died from COVID-19. It's graduation weekend for Bedford County high school seniors and despite COVID-19 wrecking traditional ceremonies, Community High School graduates were honored Friday by faculty, staff and family during a drive-through processional.
