The U.S. 41A project was divided into two segments by Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). Segment 1 runs from SR-64 to west of Jenkins Road and Segment 2 runs Madison Street from west of Jenkins Road to near SR276/Thompson Creek Road. Segment 1, according to Ian Preston, TDOT community transportation planner, is not scheduled for completion until the end of 2021, but segment 2 should be completed by the end of this year. There were some utility delays, Preston reports, but construction is currently back on schedule.

The Bedford County Listening Project, a tenants’ rights group, chose a high visibility venue, outside The Celebration, for a press conference Saturday afternoon as they continue their push for a meeting with Shelbyville City Manager Shanna Boyette. John Thomas “Johnny” Merritt, 102, of Eagleville died Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Friday at Lawrence Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, with Bro. Ed Slayton officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro. Visitation will begin at 9 AM.

Ernest Edward Holton, 83, of Shelbyville died Monday, August 31, 2020. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 4th, at Hillcrest Funeral Home, Rev. Scotty Sorrells and Richard Dugger officiating. Burial will follow at Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M.

Ruth Maeann Patterson, 75, of Rutherford County died Monday, August 31, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Father Chris Finley will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Murfreesboro. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
