Eagles make tourney Worth the effort
After starting with a 3-4 mark, the Shelbyville Golden Eagles pulled themselves together and improved their record to 7-4 by winning all four of their games in the Worth Tournament over the weekend.
"Overall we had a very good offensive performance. We had 49 hits for 47 runs in the four games," said coach Scott Hall.
Two standouts for the Eagles' offense were Ryan Turner, who batted .615 for the tournament, and Charlie Hallum, who had a .500 tournament batting average.
Shelbyville got three complete games from their pitchers. "Our pitching was outstanding," remarked Hall. "Our pitching staff was thin because of injuries and we needed those."
Shelbyville started off on the right foot by beating Bolton 6-2 and Overton 16-3 Friday, then Briarcrest Christian 13-3 and David Lipscomb 12-5 Saturday,
