They didn't lose a game until the first title matchup for the state championship in the Dizzy Dean 9-year-old state tournament, but Shelbyville's Blue team lost to Blue Springs 12-7 -- forcing another game for the state title.

This time Shelbyville wasn't about to let the championship slip from their hands, beating Blue Springs 5-3 to gain the state crown.

Shelbyville took an early 4-0 lead when Jackson McAnally crushed a grand slam over the fence in the second inning. The team added another run in the third for a 5-0 advantage.

Blue Springs gave it a valiant effort, scoring three runs in a final-inning comeback attempt, but Shelbyville stopped their opponent for the win and state championship.
