The movie will have its local debut at the Capri Theater Saturday, Aug. 13, with additional screenings on Sunday, Aug. 14.
According to Louise Russell, assistant to writer/director Cameron Watson, Mary Badham is confirmed to attend the weekend festivities. Badham is a legend in cinema history, playing Scout in the classic 1962 film, "To Kill a Mockingbird," and her comeback cameo appearance in "Our Very Own" has generated worldwide attention.
Also confirmed for next week's premiere is Autumn Reeser, who plays Melora in the film. Since shooting "Our Very Own" last summer in Shelbyville, she has appeared in the ABC sitcom "Complete Savages" and has just been cast as a new member of the smash hit television series "The O.C."
Veteran character actress Beth Grant is also confirmed to attend the Shelbyville premiere. Her performance in "Our Very Own" is being touted as a "comic turn of sheer brilliance."
Also attending is Murfreesboro local Derek Carter, who is returning home from Los Angeles for the premiere. Carter has landed a new series on the Oxygen channel called "Campus Ladies" since being "discovered" by the filmmakers of "Our Very Own."
Cody Block and John Will Clay, who play the "bad guys" in the film, are expected to be on hand at the screening as well. Other stars' schedules are pending at press time.
A pre-screening reception to benefit The Fly Arts Center will be held at The Fly on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.. Tickets are being sold separately for that event through the Uptown Merchants. Patrons will be able to mingle with the stars and filmmakers and donations are being requested in leau of a chance to win movie memorabilia. Proceeds are to go the the Fly Arts Center. Catering will be done by Fullerfare.

Russell stated that the Saturday night premiere will be invitation only and invitations will be arriving via mail from Hollywood this week. "We plan on doing a red carpet press line in front of the Capri for the Saturday evening premiere screening," Russell said.
A private post-screening after-party will take place immediately following the screening at the Blue Ribbon Circle on the Celebration Grounds.
But Sunday's screenings for the public are turning out to be just as exciting. The first screening on Sunday afternoon will include a lobby mingle with the stars and the filmmakers and a talk-back session after the screening with Watson and the filmmakers.
Several locals involved with the film will be invited to that screening as well. There will be tickets available to that screening for the public, followed by three additional screenings throughout the day.
The filmmakers and Watson will be on hand for all screenings. There is no charge for the Sunday shows, and details on how to obtain tickets for them will be announced this week on the film's website www.ourveryownmovie.com.
"Our Very Own" was conceived by Shelbyville native Watson, and is a semi-autobiographic tale set in 1978 starring Allison Janney, Keith Carradine and Cheryl Hines, along with rising stars Jason Ritter, Autumn Reeser and Hilarie Burton.
Last month, the movie premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was well received, according to Watson.
"The word of mouth in Hollywood on this film is very positive," Watson said last month. "The buzz is incredibly high pitched."
