Pre-screening reception open to public

Tuesday, August 9, 2005

Confusion has arisen over the invitation-only premiere of "Our Very Own" Saturday night and a public, pre-screening reception scheduled earlier in the afternoon.

"The reception Our Town is hosting on Saturday evening is not by invitation only," Betty Harrison, director of the sponsoring organization, said Monday. "It is for anyone in Shelbyville who wants to meet the people from Hollywood, including Cameron Watson and several actors and actresses from the movie."

"I think the confusion is about the tickets to see the movie versus the tickets to the reception," Harrison said. "The reception is a public event and we would like to see as many people from Shelbyville come out to support Our Town and The Fly as we can."

The reception will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. at The Fly Arts Center. Tickets cost $20 and are available at any merchant on the Shelbyville square. Attire is anything from jeans to black tie.

For more details contact Harrison, 684-6223, or Janice Cole of the Arts Council, 703-7613.

"We promise surprises and a great time to all those in attendance," Harrison said. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many people in Shelbyville to meet actors, actresses, production people and directors...and all proceeds go to The Fly so it is a win-win situation."

Saturday's screening of the movie, to be held following the reception, is invitation-only. Tickets were distributed to the public last weekend for several Sunday showings.

Our Town was developed to revitalize uptown Shelbyville through efforts of its merchants.
