Heralded Tennessee freshman quarterback Jonathan Crompton underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Wednesday to repair a torn labrum. UT head athletic trainer Keith Clements said Crompton will miss the entire 2005 football season.

"Jonathan is prepared to begin his rehabilitation process with our sports medicine staff immediately," Clements said.

The 6-foot-3, 220 pound Crompton threw for 6,757 yards and 62 touchdowns in three seasons at Tuscola High in Waynesville, N.C. He garnered Parade All-America honors and played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, claiming the "Army of One" award.
