Lady Pats win one for Bedford County

Liberty Middle's M.K. Potts scorched visiting Forrest Middle for 27 points to lead the Lady Patriots to a 40-37 win, the first for any Bedford County team against the Lady Rockets in over two years.

"M.K. put us on her back offensively," Liberty coach Chad Spencer said. "We stuck to our game plan. All my girls rebounded great tonight."

Jesse Calvert added seven points for the Lady Patriots (3-1).

Beth Hawn had 15 points for the Lady Rockets.

Liberty led 10-7 at the end for the first quarter but trailed 18-17 at halftime.

Liberty 60, Forrest 49 (B): A pair of seventh graders, Seth Jarrell and Rhett Perryman, each contributed 12 points to help the Patriots improve to 4-0.

"I'm getting a lot out of my two seventh-grade posts right now," Spencer said.

Emmanuel Andrews had a game-high 28 points for Liberty (4-0). "Emmanuel played awesome like he normally does," Spencer said.

"We're playing hard right now. They're giving me everything a coach could ask for."

Ferris Perkins scored 16 points and Parker Holton 15 for Forrest.

The Pats led 21-7 after the first quarter, 34-22 at the half and 44-32 moving into the final stanza.
