Pietkiewicz follows Terry Saylor, who left HMS to take a position in the school system's central office on Jan. 17. Saylor is now superintendent of student services, replacing Hal Skelton, who is currently on a six-month leave due to a family member's illness.
Gray said interviews to fill the vacant Liberty School principal's position will begin Friday. The process has been expedited; the school system's labor contracts require a vacant position to be advertised for 10 days. The school system will begin doing the interviews during that 10-day window rather than waiting until after it has passed.
HMS moved into a new facility at the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year.
