Winter weather causes accidents

Nancy L. George, River Ranch Road, is carried up an embankment after her SUV hit an icy spot and ran off U.S. 41-A North near Old Unionville Road about 6:40 this morning. Depite being pinned in, she received only minor injuries and walked to the ambulance after being brought to the roadway. Schools were closed today due to slick spots on roads following a light snow overnight. Accidents were also reported on 41-A North near Hickory Hill Road and north of Unionville; two on 41-A South at Duck River bridge; two at the same time on U.S. 231 North at the bridges near Hurricane Grove Road; Halls Mill Road; Nashville Dirt Road at Frank Martin Road; Squire Hall Road; State Highway 82, just east of Bell Buckle; Haley Road near Bugscuffle Road; and Fairfield Pike in Shelbyville, the only weather-related wreck reported inside the city limits.
