A native of Marshall County, she has been employed by Jostens Inc. for 12 years as an editor and is a member of JCAR (Jostens Community Awareness Representative). She is a former member of Bedford County Board of Education.
She is a 1965 graduate of Marshall County High School and attended Motlow State Community College. She graduated from the State / Area Vocational-Technical School (now Tennessee Technology Center at Shelbyville) with a degree in bookkeeping. She married Clyde Peoples in December 1965; they have two daughters and two grandchildren.
Peoples is a member of Victory Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She served for two years as president of the Women's Democratic Club and one year as president of Bedford County Girl Scouts. She has been a teacher of the 4-year-old class at Victory Baptist Academy and is a notary public.
"I do not support increasing taxes," she said, "and the county should not use the citizens of Bedford County as an ATM machine to withdraw money when they have exceeded the budget. I support our school system and any building projects necessary to maintain our competitive edge for the growth of our county."
