Robbers attack woman, grab bank bag

Friday, August 25, 2006

Two men attacked a woman and took a bank bag from her hands as she left a Shelbyville grocery store after closing time Thursday night, police said.

Carrol Trice, 35, of Shelbyville suffered back and arm injuries as she was beaten with a baseball bat by one of two men involved in the attack.

The suspect and another man grabbed the bag, containing a sizable amount of Save-A-Lot Market's money, and Trice's purse and contents, police said.

Trice and another female employee were leaving Save-A-Lot, South Cannon Boulevard, Sgt. Tony A. Collins said.

"Ms. Trice had the bank deposit bag under her arm," Collins said. "When they got to (her) vehicle two males came out of the grass where they had been hiding. One had a bat in his hand and started to beat her with it."

The men ran behind the building after the attack, Collins said.

Police said the suspects wore blue ski masks and clothing and appeared to be white. One stands about 5-feet-9 and was stocky and the other is an inch or two shorter.
