Ogles lost control of his Pontiac Grand Prix about 8:40 p.m. while driving southbound, Lt. Trey Clanton, accident investigator for the Shelbyville Police Department, said.
"He ran off the left side of the road and flipped at least three times," Clanton said. "The best I can tell Ogles was ejected through the rear window."
Clanton and Lt. Mike Baker said signs indicated Ogles had been driving at an excessively high speed.
Officers arrived to find Ogles unconcious, but with a faint pulse, about 15 feet away from the car, which was overturned and leaning against a large tree.
Ogles died 15-20 minutes later.
Police were initially unsure if anyone else had been thrown from the vehicle. They searched a wooded area behind the crash site before being told a passenger had gotten out of the car earlier.
