Two men, one from Shelbyville, have been charged with supplying false identifications to Hispanics throughout Middle Tennessee.

Shelbyville and Columbia police arrested David Gonazlez at his Columbia home early Saturday. Gonzalez's computer system and printing equipment was brought to Shelbyville.

The Shelbyville man, Julian Jiminez, 38, Park Trail Apartments, was described as Gonzalez's "runner" by SPD Detective Sgt. Jason Williams.

Both suspects are illegally in the United States, according to Williams.

"Detective Brian Crews started the investigation after receiving information aboiut a man selling fake idenetification and Social Security cards," Williams said.

"We went to his home in Coilumbia and found 180 counterfeit Tennessee driver's licenses,150 resident alien cards and 50 Social Security cards. They were making thousands of cards,"

Gonzalez had a laboratory set up in the home with full capability of manufacturing the cards, including lamination equipment, Williams said.

"They were stealing IDs and reproducing legitimate Social Security cards," Williams said. "Many were distributed in Shelbyville."
