Early morning fire destroys home

Tuesday, May 22, 2007
Fire destroyed a Richmond Cemetery Road home early Monday morning.

The residence of Cecil Adcock had burned to the ground when Volunteer Fire Services Inc. personnel arrived shortly before 5 a.m. Firefighters concerned about possible victims were relieved when Adcock arrived.

VFSI personnel said the blaze's cause is unknown.

*Sparks ignited a fire at SST, North Jefferson Street, late Saturday night.

"The owner said he'd cut metal with a power saw earlier Saturday," Inspector Brian Nicholson of the Shelbyville Fire Department said. "The fire originated on a wooden table nearby. Sparks from the fire ignited the table."

Light smoke hovered outside the building when firefighters arrived about 11:30, Nicholson said.

"We forced entry and found heavy smoke smoldering. There was about 10 percent damage to the building."

Drug arrests

A woman involved in an auto accident Friday on Colloredo Boulevard was arrested after a state trooper allegedly found marijuana in her purse.

Jamie Noel Charlebois, 30, Halls Mill Road, had 2.84 grams of the substance, Trooper D'Angelo Inman said.

Charlebois posted $500 bond on a charge of possession of a schedule VI drug.

*A lesser amount of marijuana was discovered after a traffic stop Sunday night on North Main Street.

Drug dog Remy detected the pot in a pack of cigarettes and under a seat of a vehicle driven by Robin Yvette Baker, 38, Wartrace Pike, police said.
