"We have had such a fun week," she said. "Everyone is tired, but it's a good tired because we know the Fair was a success."
Celebrating its 10th year this year, the Bedford County Fair offered 29 events, ranging from dog shows to livestock expositions and Senior Citizens to youth events.
"We have been extremely pleased with the aspects of the Fair," Gambill said. "The sponsors were very good to us this year and everyone in town seemed to be promoting the Fair.
"It is a community affair. Each portion of the Fair is designed with the community in mind -- the provide something for everyone."
According to Gambill, several new events added to the Fair this year were just as successful as the standard ones.
"We added Mule Pulling and a youth day," she said. "Both of these were successful as was the goat show. Those winners will compete on a state level during the Tennessee State Fair in September."
The Fair hosted the Central Region Goat Show. Over 190 entries competed for titles. The Rabbit and Poultry competitions both grew this year as well as did the livestock competitions.
"Mrs. Gruene of the midway rides said this is one of the best fairs they attend," said Gambill. "She sees fairs across the country but said the Bedford County Fair was a traditional, basic Fair, still offering livestock and agricultural exhibitions and competitions. That's what make a Fair, a fair."
The grand finale of the activities included a performance by the band Four on the Floor. Two local residents are members of the band, giving it a hometown sound and feel.
"We were really entertained by the band on Saturday night," said Gambill. "Even with the rain, they did a great job and gave us an extra performance. First Community Bank sponsored the event and it was really good."
Dwight King and Johnny Stewart are members of the band and both from Shelbyville.
"These guys will be the featured act at the State Convention (of Fairs)," said Gambill. "They are really a good group and we were fortunate to have them."
Gambill said the community truly supported the Fair this year.
"Everything just went great," she said. "The All Pleasure horse show on Friday night had 256 entries and many local winners. The Fair is simply a great family atmosphere. Many families came every night. Where else can you entertain the whole family for a whole week for only $30?"
Vendors from across the mid-state joined the Fair this year. Gambill said the Pick Tn Products categories were tremendously well represented this year as well.
"Krogers was a big sponsor this year," she said. "We had four participants that were from Lynchburg that spent time with us each day and gave away product.
"We had a vendor that has been with us from the beginning tell us how nice it was to see us grow every year," said Gambill. "Each year the Fair gets larger and that means we're moving in the right direction. I guess that means we're doing something right."
Gambill said the board of directors of the Fair will take a week off following the final clean-up of the Ag Center. After that, it's back to business.
"We are already gearing up for 2008," she said. "It's a lot of sweat, but it's a community event and everyone has fun. That makes it all worth it."

The fair was a huge ripoff for those just wanting to take their children to enjoy the carnival rides. My family of six paid $15 to get in the gate and then paid the amusement company $30 for 40 tickets. This may sound like a lot of rides, but all the rides cost 3 or 4 tickets per person per ride. After 30 minutes we were all loaded back in the car to go home. Not a great time at all. Fair needs work.
