A woman told investigators she was raped by an masked intruder at her home east of Shelbyville late Tuesday night.

The woman, 19, said she was asleep and woke up to find the man already attacking. She told Bedford County deputies she tried unsuccessfully to fight him off.

She described the attacker as Hispanic and wearing a ski mask. The suspect left in a black Ford Ranger pickup truck, she said.

Officers said she was uncertain how the man got into the home, which is located in east-central Bedford County just outside Shelbyville.

Authorities were notified of the attack about 11:15 p.m.

The victim was taken to Bedford County Medical Center for treatment.
