"I was able to rotate midfielders in and out throughout the game to keep energy going in that position that requires so much running," Lady Champion coach Patricia Petty said. "All players played in this game and all subs played well -- I'd have to say that's what made me happiest about the game."
The coach also noted the efforts of defensive players Jayne Tully, Aimee Taylor, Angel McBryant and Shelby Nelson, along with their dominant time of possession maintained by the midfielders.
Ryann Underwood assisted Mary Saylors for Cascade's first goal. Underwood then thinned the twine herself just before halftime. Ashley Bledsoe netted their final score from the other wing.
Madison Waldron's score in the last few minutes prevented Middle Tennessee Christian from being shut out.
"We still need to improve on communication so that we never have more than one of our players on the ball at one time," Petty said. "We also must improve the percentage of scores per shot."
The Lady Champs stay in district competition on Thursday as Marshall County comes to Wartrace at 5:30.
