Sadie Fowler has joined the Shelbyville Times-Gazette as a staff writer. In addition to covering general news assignments, Fowler will focus on feature writing and the lifestyles section.

"This is an exciting addition to our staff," said René Capley, managing editor of the T-G. "Sadie not only has the education and experience to handle the writing position but she also has the passion for journalism."

Fowler will begin her full-time position with the paper beginning Monday.

"I am very proud to be joining the T-G staff," said Fowler. "I have received such a warm welcome from the staff, which makes starting this new job very comforting and exciting. I am also looking forward to getting better acquainted with the community members of Bedford County."

Fowler is originally from Saratoga County in upstate New York. She is a 2001 graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in political science with a focus in broadcast journalism.

Shortly after graduation, she accepted a position at Dabora, Inc., combining her love for horses with her educational background in journalism. She was employed as an advertising and editorial representative of the Shelbyville-based company, and later, as the editorial director.

During a return to her home state, Fowler launched a new series of niche publications for The Post-Star in Glens Falls, N.Y., a newspaper where she worked as an intern while in college. She also interned at other news organizations including ABC news affiliate WTEN in Albany, N.Y.

Fowler resides in Shelbyville with her husband, Jackie, and her Shih Tzu dog, Lizzie. She enjoys traveling, working out, reading, and cooking.

Fowler said she enjoys meeting new people. She can be reached at .
