"It was very key to get a win today to boost them back up," Lady Feet coach Adrian Anderson said. "We passed the ball to our midfielders out of the back, finding gaps, doing all the work to keep possession, which is always key in soccer. If you've got the ball, it's hard for the other team to score on you."
Mary Wells gave Webb the pick-me-up they needed with a rocket to the back of the net in the 64th minute. Kelsey Sutton assisted on the game-winner.
Sarah Wright totaled eight saves in goal for the victors behind a stingy defense.
"We finally got my two center backs working together with one dropping off in behind the other," Anderson said. "The other teams aren't getting their one-on-one breakaways on us like they were before.
"If we don't give them one-on-one breakaways with Sarah they have a hard time scoring on us because we win the ball in the midfield."
MTC (2-8-1) threatened on a few occasions thanks in part to the gritty play of freshman Andrea Willhite.
"(Willhite) was our biggest obstacle, trying to match up against her," Anderson said. "She's one of the key players that we've gone against all year that have really stood out amongst their team."
Webb departs for fall break before heading up to Nashville to face Davidson Academy on Tuesday.
Feet runners impress: Zach Wagner ran the top time for Webb (20:11) in their latest cross country match.
Ty Travis (20:31), Michael Bedford (21:06), Christopher Hoover (21:19) and Caleb Rasnick (21:30) all completed the 3.1 mile course in under 22 minutes.
David Lipscomb, Father Ryan and Martin Luther King finished with the top team totals, respectively. Goodpasture, CPA, MBA and Ensworth also competed.
Lipcomb's Ryan Johnson held the top individual time (16:50).
