After holding a quick 5-3 advantage, Webb allowed visiting St. Andrew's-Sewanee to respond with an 8-0 run and the Mountain Lions never looked back on their way to a 53-30 victory Tuesday evening at the Barton Athletic Center.
"I was very disappointed with how we came out," Lady Feet coach Jeff Mitchell said. "We just didn't show up early. I thought we had a chance to stay in that game with a good team that gives us matchup problems, but I thought both teams came out a little sluggish and we didn't capitalize on some easy opportunities."
SAS led 11-5 after one quarter and increased its edge to 19-7 early in the second stanza. The hosts could not cut into the deficit by halftime as the Lions extended their lead to 25-12 at the break.
The visitors exploded in the third frame, building a 26-point cushion while eventually outscoring Webb 21-8 to take a 46-20 advantage into the final eight minutes.
The Lady Feet (4-8) were outscored 7-0 early in the fourth period before finishing the game on a positive note with an impressive 10-0 spurt.
"On the positive, we played some young kids there at the end," Mitchell said. "After half a season of trying to get them to do some things like be aggressive and take the ball to the basket, some of those girls did that.
"Overall, though, we should be getting better at this point in the season, but we didn't show that at all tonight for whatever reason."
Jodie Brown paced the winners with a game-best 18 points.
Webb was guided by Elizabeth Lawrence's 13 tallies.
The Lady Feet travel to east Tennessee for contests at King's Academy and Berean Christian Friday and Saturday, respectively.
