Webb bucks Boyd's Broncos

Monday, January 28, 2008

Webb's girls put forth their strongest effort on offense of the season in a 66-54 win at Boyd Christian on Saturday night.

Zola Quao was one of four Lady Feet (7-10) who reached double figures in scoring. She led everybody with 22 points.

"We came out real strong," Webb coach Mitchell said. "That's about as good offensively as we've played."

Elizabeth Lawrence followed Quao with 14 points. Shaala Mosley, Alyx Walker and Callie Vaughn each added 10.

The Bell Buckle girls took control early, going up 19-6. They entered the half ahead 37-20 and the final period leading 54-33.

Virginia Prater paced the Lady Broncos with 18 points.

Webb 72, Boyd Christian 49 (B): The Feet were dominant in three out of four quarters en route to upping their record to 15-2.

Hunter Foutch was the game's top scorer with 21 points. Jordan Burchett contributed 12, Logan Burchett 10 and Luke Baum 10.

"We got contributions from a lot of kids," Mitchell said. "Luke Baum stepped out and hit a couple 3s for us. The pressure was probably the difference. We got a lot of easy baskets."

Webb took the advantage early with a 12-6 first quarter. They stretched that upper hand to 36-21 at the half before being outscored 17-10 in the third frame.

"We really came out and played three good quarters," Mitchell added. "The third quarter we didn't come out with energy, but give Boyd Christian credit, they made a run."

Casey Myers headed up the net-thinning effort for the McMinnville kids with 20 points.
