After draining 13 3-pointers in a 34-point win in Wartrace on Jan. 21, the Lady Champions sank 11 more, led by junior guard Shelby Nelson. She dropped in six long-range buckets in the first meeting and five more this time.
"All of my perimeter players are shooting really well right now," Cascade coach Chad Spencer said. "When teams play us man-to-man, (Nelson's) job is to initiate the offense. When teams (play) zone (on) us, she's been knocking down the shots."
"Credit those kids. They shot the lights out again," Lady Feet coach Jeff Mitchell said.
The Lady Champs (9-11) left their hosts staggering after only a quarter of play with five 3s en route to a 17-7 lead.
Zola Quao, who was held to only six points after netting 20 in the first matchup, scored the only field goal Webb (7-12) could manage in the second quarter. In contrast, Cascade had five ladies with baskets and led 29-9 at the half.
"We just couldn't score enough points. (Cascade), in spurts, they'd make a bunch of shots," Mitchell said.
"I thought if we could get it to six or eight and hang in there for awhile, you never know. We missed several layups."
Jessica Popp, who was recently moved up to the varsity squad after her middle school team won the Bedford County Tournament on Saturday, scored the first bucket of her career and the opening two points of the second half. But, hers was one of only two for the Lady Champs in the frame.
"Give Webb credit. They came out and took us out of our game, especially in the third quarter," said Spencer after unloading his bench.
"We came out a little flat early. I would like to see us get a little more out of our press."
The Lady Feet used the visitors' drought to trim their deficit to 33-20 with the fourth period looming.
"Our girls at times get the mindset that they're going to come out and just be able to walk through it and win," Spencer said. "Webb is not like they used to be. These kids are over here working hard and taking pride in what they're doing. That's good to see. That makes the game more fun."
Millie Carter set the tone for another dominant stanza for the Orange and Black with one of her trio of 3s 39 seconds into the fourth.
A bolt of chill bumps went through the Cascade faithful their next trip down as four-year starter Tiffany Gibbs severely rolled her ankle and laid behind the baseline in agony.
"I saw her ankle and that's why I came over immediately before the referee let me," Spencer said. "She rolled it. I was scared it may have been broke."
Losing his lone all-district performer would be a tremendous blow for Spencer with only three games remaining before the District 9-A tournament. Seeing her fall with a 16-point lead late in a non-district contest would make it seem that much worse.
"At the time I was frustrated with the way we were playing in the third quarter," he said. "I put some of my key players back in the game to try to build us some momentum.
"When I've got them on the floor it doesn't matter if they're a starter or a reserve. I want them sitting down when they're playing defense, blocking out, rebounding."
Gibbs' status is day-to-day at this point. No word yet on her availability for Friday's pivotal district game at Community.
Elizabeth Lawrence was Webb's leading scorer with 14 points, including 10 in the second half.
The Bell Buckle girls travel to Chattanooga on Friday night to take on David Brainerd.
