Forrest continued their unbeaten District 9-A streak with an impressive 59-37 drubbing of Community on Tuesday night in Unionville.

The visitors jumped out front with 14 unanswered points in the opening minutes. Viqueen sophomore point guard Aubrey Boyce put a stop to the run with a 3-pointer at the 2:14 mark.

Forrest (20-3, 10-0 9-A) opened the second frame up 18-3 and stretched the margin to a comfortable 39-10 lead as Thea Ledbetter, Ayla Young and Dakota Wesson hit 3-pointers to place the game effectively out of reach for the Viqueens at intermission.

"Give Forrest credit," Community coach Allison Layne said. "They have an impressive array of talent on the inside as well as the perimeter and they took us out of the game early with their defensive pressure.

"This game should be a real eye opener for our kids as to just how far we have to go to compete with teams like this."

The Purple and Gold outscored the Lady Rockets in the third stanza -- though they managed only one field goal -- by going 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Both coaches cleared the benches for the fourth quarter, with Community (12-7, 5-5) gaining a slight upper hand in the scoring department, but it was too little too late to make any appreciable difference.

"We were simply out hustled and outplayed by Forrest on both sides of the ball," Layne said. "We learned a lot about our team tonight and not all of it was pleasant but a lesson learned anyway.

"We have a lot of work to do just as quick as we can get back in the gym."

Boyce earned game-high honors with 13 points with Marissa Jones adding 10 for Community.

Bussell netted 11 and Beth Hawn scored 10 to lead Forrest, who placed 11 players in the scoring column.

The Lady Rockets connected on 10-of-15 free throws. Community hit 16-of-22.

Cascade visits Community on Friday with a potential home game in the opening round of the district tournament on the line.
