Drunk, armed man arrested in store

Thursday, January 31, 2008
Police arrested a man who was allegedly carrying a loaded pistol while drunk Tuesday in Wal-Mart.

Officers, notified of a man who was "staggering around the store," arrived to find Samuel Prosser, 51, Temple Ford Lane, "smacking" two packages on a counter with his hands, Officer Bruce Davis said.

Prosser, who police thought seemed "very nervous," was arrested after Officer Jeff Goodrich found a loaded pistol shoved into his pants in the small of his back.

Officers also found nine packages of Fentanyl and containers of various types of pills in Prosser's possession.

Charges of possession of schedule II drugs, public intoxication and carrying a weapon while under the influence were filed against Prosser, who posted $7,500 bond.

Drug charge

Marijuana was found in the possession of a woman who walked away from a South Cannon Boulevard bar Tuesday night after being asked to leave by management.

A cab called by personnel at C.J.'s was en route to pick up Melissa Dawn Eller, 44, New Center Church Road, who was allegedly "belligerent" inside the bar, Officer Barry Crocker said.

Crocker found Eller "swaying" while walking along the shoulder of South Cannon and discovered .61 grams of marijuana and a marijuana pipe in her possession.

Eller was charged with public intoxication, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was being held Tuesday on $1,500 bond.

Computers stolen

*Five Dell computer towers were taken from a mini barn and another computer tower from the trunk of a car at the home of Joseph Golembieski, Anthony Lane, between 7-9:50 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

*Three bottles of prescription drugs and a tool bag were stolen overnight Monday from a car owned by Douglas Armstrong outside his Baker Street home.

Home vandalized

Vandalism was reported to the former home of a couple who were victims of a home invasion last fall.

A window was broken and open and a side door unlocked Monday when new owner Winston Trolinger entered the house on Fairfield Pike in Shelbyville.

No belongings were in the home, Trolinger told police.

Former occupants Alton and Patricia Davis were robbed Nov. 6, 2007.

Sex charge

A Bedford County man is facing sexually related charges in Moore County.

Daniel Sargent, 3135 Wartrace Pike, has been charged with solicitation of a minor for sex. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Moore County on Feb. 5.

According to the National Sex Offender Registry, Sargent also lists an address of 97 Starbow Lane in Normandy.

Sargent is a registered sex offender from Florida, where he served 11 years for having sex with a 10-year-old in 1993.

Sources tell the T-G that Sargent has been living for the last few weeks in a trailer park in the area of Moore County that is located between Coffee and Bedford counties, which is listed as the Normandy address.
