In an upset, the top-seeded Webb Feet fell 56-54 to Davidson Academy in the opening round of the East/Middle Region tournament at University School of Nashville on Friday night.

Webb, who swept the Bears by 37 points in the two regular season matchups, fell behind by five points after a quarter before rebounding with a 20-point second period to enter the half up 32-29.

Davidson Academy took control in the third period and the favorites never recovered.

"It's very disappointing," Feet coach Jeff Mitchell said. "We just didn't really step up defensively. We weren't able to stop them. I've got to give (Davidson Academy) credit, their kids made a whole lot of shots tonight, played real aggressive. We didn't meet their challenge."

Andrew Swint carried the Bears with 25 points. Mac Swann had 11 and Cody Sandelin 10.

Webb (19-5) was led by Jordan Burchett's 18 points. Hunter Foutch followed with 13 and Logan Burchett 10.

"We didn't make enough perimeter shots," Mitchell said. "They had a good game plan and packed it in. We didn't make enough plays there at the end."

Davidson Academy 57, Webb 22 (G): The opponents were the same but the seedings were reversed as the Lady Bears took care of business early in dispatching the Lady Feet.

The top seed erupted in the opening stanza, outscoring Webb 22-4 before holding a commanding 41-12 halftime advantage.

Megan Walker headed the Davidson Academy charge with 13 points in limited action. Holly Beth Jones tallied 10.

The Lady Feet (9-15) got 16 points from Zola Quao.
