I really think with all the women in the area who have made a positive difference with her professional career, a better choice could have been made for the speaker for this event. When this lady took over as sponsor for the Titan's squad, she shifted the emphasis from very fit cheerleaders, to very thin 'I want a certain weight' cheerleaders. While i am sure many in the professional cheer world are still stuck here, many squads are only looking for strong, fit (not over muscular by any means) women.
This person has done little but set women back 40 years with her mindset. To promote or encourage unhealthy or potentially dangerous habits is completely unforgivable. I know the uniforms worn are completely unforgiving toward any body flaw, but their is a difference between a very lean fit body, and a very skinny body at the same weight.
If people only knew what grit and determination if took for one to be a high school, or college cheerleader that would give them the respect they deserve! It is nice to have a positve figure in the sports world. I have not seen any Titan cheerleaders or any other NFL cheerleader for that manner in the news for drug abuse, dog fighting etc. Maybe we should turn to the sidelines to find our heros!
Cheers to the Cheerleaders!
That was a tad bit uncalled for, if you read what she has done you would have found it very interesting and very much needed.
Our children and teens need a role model that does concentrate on studies ALL of the time, but uses physical activity to express themselves in other ways. I found it very good she can show that to a variety of people. She can show that someone that is beautiful, smart and fitness minded can contribute a ton of useful things to us. Actually we need more people like her.
