'To Kill A Mockingbird' will be presented

Saturday, March 1, 2008

The Bedford County Arts Council will present "To Kill a Mockingbird," based on the novel by Harper Lee, for five nights in March. The Arts Council chose this play to honor Black History month, which was in February.

"We couldn't get the dates worked out in February so we decided to do it in March," said Janice Cole, director of The Fly and producer of the play.

Performances will be made March 13 and 14 with a 7 p.m. curtain, March 16 with a 2 p.m. curtain, March 21 with a 7 p.m. curtain, and March 22 with an 8 p.m. curtain. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Directed by cast member Deborah Obenchain, other cast members are Ed Craig, Deidre Smith, Joselyn Phillips, Sam Obenchain, Lewis Obenchain, Cort Huffman, Jeff Seckler, Charles Rich, David Langford, Badd Cadt, Paulette Gross, Sue Thelen, Andrea McTigue, Kelsey Petty, Stanley Green, Lynn Reynolds, Gene Williams, Aaron Nelson and Michael McGee.

Cole said The Fly is proud to present this play about tolerance to the community, which is filled with people who respect one another.
