Friday, March 14, 2008

Gaynell Pitner (left) and Nancy Hulan (right), representing the Shelbyville Garden Club, presented a check Wednesday to Helen Garner, who represented Bedford County's Beautification Committee. In remembrance of Arbor Day, the Beautification Committee will use the funds toward a new tree that will be planted on the square.

I think thats great. When I come to Shelbyville (actually leaving tomorrow to come down your way), I love to walk the Square. As far as the trees encourging "excessive bird droppings", I think that if they don't perch on the trees they will perch on the buildings and you will still have bird poop. The trees provide excellent shade on those hot summer afternoons and really make the Square look nice. Keep up the great gardening work!

HOPE THEY FIND SOMEWHERE OFF THE SQUARE TO PLANT THEIR TREE.TOO MANY TREES ARE ALREADY CLUTTERING THE SQUARE WITH BIRD DROPPINGS ON THE SIDEWALKS DOWN TOWN EVERYWHERE.
