It wasn't an ideal day for baseball, and it didn't end in an ideal way, but Webb and Community made the most of it by playing a spirited and eventful game in Bell Buckle before having to pack it in due to darkness with the score tied at six.

It wasn't the way that the Feet wanted to welcome new coach Don Rhoton in his first home appearance, nor was it the impression that Viking coach Josh Burrahm wanted to leave on his former college coach and mentor.

"I was pretty nervous about facing off with coach Rhoton," Burrahm said. "We go back a long way and I have the utmost respect for him. It was kind of weird being on the opposite sideline from him, but the old competitive feeling took over pretty quick after the first pitch."

Community took the lead in the first when Michael Smith reached on an error and came around to score on another Webb miscue two batters later.

Webb (0-1-1) roared right back by scoring three runs in their half on hits by Jordan Foutch and Jordan Burchett and three walks by Community pitchers.

The Vikings lost starting pitcher Chris West during the first inning rally when a line drive by Burchett hit him in the right hand.

Sophomore Lance Paschal took over and quelled the rally on a pop up to third and a groundout.

The Vikings (2-0-1) sent eight men to the plate in the second inning and, when the dust was settled, had put four runs on the board on four walks, three hits and an error to take a 5-4 lead.

Community extended the lead to 6-4 on Smith's second hit and an error off of a ground ball hit by Paschal in the fifth.

Webb put one on the board in the sixth to get to within one run and then shut the Vikes down to give themselves a chance going into the final stanza.

The Feet tied it in the seventh on a leadoff triple by Jordan Burchett, who scored on a clutch two-out hit by Logan Burchett as darkness descended forcing the game to be finished another day.

"We are knocking on the door but just can't get over the hump just yet," Rhoton said. "We did some real good things out there but we also let some plays get away from us that really affected the outcome of the game in a negative way.

"We will get that fixed though and build on the positives."

Jordan Burchett and Logan Burchett had two hits each for Webb.

Smith had tallied two knocks and three runs scored for the Vikings.

Jimmy,

That is a great picture. I think the t-g dose a great job of showing action photos.

Keep up the good work
