The Cougars left an impression early, moving in front 5-3 following a four-run second inning.
The Champions answered right back with five scores in the top of the third and got tremendous relief pitching from Justin Bryant to cruise to a 10-5 win in the opener. The senior righty allowed but two hits and a walk while striking out seven in five innings pitched.
"We just really need to play ball and today we got a chance to do that," Cascade coach Chris Parker said. "We did a pretty good job of staying on the baseball and scoring some runs. We threw the ball real well."
The Orange and Black brought their bats with them as Jay Bishop cranked out a trio of hits. Bryant, MoMo Stewart and Nick Batts contributed a pair of knocks apiece.
Clarksville Academy's Caleb Ragsdale was saddled with the loss. Devin Hightower and Robert Pippon had two hits each.
Cascade 7, Clarksville Academy 4: The Champions jumped out out to a 5-1 lead after plating runs in each of the first four innings and never trailed.
Stewart singled twice and homered to grand marshall a hit parade that celebrated a total of 11 hits. Bryant, Batts and Josh Brown each banged out a pair of hits as well.
Kyle Clanton picked up the 'W' after working five innings on the hill, striking out six and walking two. Brown tossed one frame and Stewart picked up a save.
Cascade (5-1) looks to extend their 17-game District 9-A win streak when they host Eagleville on Monday afternoon at 5. Stewart is scheduled to be the starting pitcher.
