Spring may mean that it's time for all the green and flowers to appear, but it also means the bikes will be rumbling into town once again.

The 6th Annual Spring Thaw Bike Show and Swap Meet is set for this Saturday at Calsonic Arena, and this year's event is looking to be even bigger than the last.

Motorcycles from all over the country will converge in Shelbyville for the second time for the Spring Thaw, which was moved from Smyrna to Shelbyville last year.

"The Calsonic [Arena] is a much better venue than the old one for our show," according to promoters Tom and Doris Williams. "The arena is much bigger and allows the show bikes their own area to be viewed by the public, while the arena floor hosts the many vendors who are selling their wares."

Vendors for this year's show include Bumpus Harley-Davidson of Murfreesboro, which will be bringing bikes, clothes, parts and more to sell.

Other confirmed vendors are: Bo Brumit Insurance, Pictures for Any Occasion, The Visual Edge, A. Williams Leather, Geico Insurance, Motor Maids, John Jordan used parts, Christian Motorcyclist Association, Leb's Motorcycle Restoring, Bad Apple Productions, D & S Cycle and Tattoo, Night Moves Lighting, Brandy and Bob's Leather, Sammy Woodside, Accufast 2-D, Back Buddy Motorcycle Rest, Ghostrider Leather, Tribe Of Judah Christian Motorcycle Riders, Blue Ridge Trading Co, CMU Enterprises, The Professor, JC's Biker Leather, J & B Stuff, Custom Biker Wear, Innovations STA-BO, Best Price Leather, Gearhead Customs, Sporty Bill's, TJR Lites and Iron Horse Trailers. Other parts and accessories vendors will also attend.

Not to be forgotten are the bikes. "This bike show, which has the reputation for being the biggest and having the best quality bikes in the state, is truly geared toward the builder," the Williams' said.

They will award the Best of Show Trophy, which all bikes entered into the show compete, that features a $1,000 cash prize. The Low Buck Chopper class is for the home builder who does things on a tight budget, but comes out with a very nice bike, with the winner taking $500.00 for first place.

New this year is the Car Kulture DeLuxe Magazine Kulture Klass, for those builders that may have more experience and money in their bikes, but are still being old school type bikes, also winning a $500 prize. There will also be 26 other classes for all types of bikes.

Also new this year, the grand door prize will be a classic 1974 BMW motorcycle. Everyone over 18 years of age entering the door will be given a ticket for the drawing, which will be held right after the awards at 5 p.m. Winners must be present to win, and the cycle will be awarded.

Gates are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; children under 12 are free. For more information go to www.bothbarrelspromotions.com or call (615) 896-2708.
