Main Street program emphasizes membership month

Monday, March 31, 2008
The Main Street Shelbyville program is promoting April as "membership month" and will offer special introductory rates for 2008 memberships.

Main Street is a program to promote the preservation and development of the square and the downtown areas.

The organization has four membership categories:

* Youth / student

* Individual / family

* Silver (small to medium businesses)

* Gold (large businesses)

Memberships are available to anyone interested in supporting the program and are available online at www.uptownshelbyville.com or by calling 680-1070.

Cash, check, MasterCard, Visa and PayPal are accepted.

Main Street Shelbyville has eight events planned for this year, starting with the Red Hat Parade April 26, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Red Hat Ladies. There will be a "Red Neck Day" and parade in July, and the second annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival in November. A complete list of events is available on the web site.

The program is looking for members, not only for financial support but for volunteerism. Members are needed on several different committees.

Shelbyville Main Street has offices located in Off the Square Plaza at 203 Holland Street. Call 680-1070 or email shelbyvillems@bellsouth.net for additional information.
