A drinking water warning was issued for the system Tuesday due to high turbidity levels and the potential of contaminated water.
Mayor Don Gallagher said that it takes a while for all the turbidity to run through the system and that the water warning could possibly run through Friday.
And while rainfall is welcomed to relieve the area's ongoing drought, Gallagher said that the wet weather could delay the lifting of the water warning.
The mayor said the town is taking a "day by day assessment" of the situation and are also looking at ways to better communicate with the public in case of a similar situation arising again.
Gallagher said that the town is working with the county's Emergency Management Agency about using software to create a "phone tree" to contact residents when necessary. He said the system could be working by the end of the month.

No . . .the post is all yours! I am done trying to argue sense into people. I guess some people have nothing better to do than gripe and complain and accuse people of doing things.
Have fun!
Me too Truckindaddy!
Think how honored I am to have been anointed a gold star by one with such superior views!
Keep on enchanting us with your reasoning skills jaxspike, keep on......
Okay I give! Jaxspike has all the answers I'm gonna go have a glass of tap water and remember ignorance begets ignorance. I stooped to an unhealthy level in trying to stress my view with such a scholar. Good I've had my glass of water I feel smarter already. You hang in there Jaxspike this post is all yours.
I'm 250 miles away and I've heard about it. and yes it does concern me as I have a house in wartrace.
Glad to see you know how to cut and paste summerhill.
You deserve a gold star!
In reviewing your posts, Jaxspike, I think you are the negative one. Lots of name calling in there... So please follow you're own advice and stop being negative as well.
"Grow up people and quit acting like the world has come to an end. Wartrace has done its part to inform people and they are working on resolving the issue. Stuff like this happens no matter how hard you try for it not to. Nothing is perfect!!
Unfortunately you got a few idiots who want to make a mountain out of an ant hill and can't be satisfied."

"Yes, Wartrace should have went to everyone's door and held their hand and told them the news and then helped boil their water and fluff their pillows while doing the dishes and clean their house. Heck, they should have also called the National Guard and declared martial law(yes, that is sacrasm).
Come on people . . . take all the negative energy you are using to complain and whine and do something positive. It is so annoying to read all these comments about how people werent informed but yet it seems everyone knew about it some time yesterday or this morning. Sure, some people may not have heard the news but that will happen no matter what you do.
This kind of makes me ashamed to call myself a resident of Wartrace when they act this silly."

"Yes, I was concerned truckindaddy because I have a low immune system and that's why I asked about the water lines. I was not upset about anything and even if I didn't found out until later then I still wouldn't have been upset. What is the point? They let the news outlet know about the situation and the water department is working on the situation. What is the point of people coming on here and gripping and complaining and coming up with conspiracy theories about why it happened? Sometimes things happen that are out of our control and we just deal with it and move on.
I have no problem with people expressing concern over the issue but unfortunately so many people are reverting to childish behavior and pointing fingers and making silly accusations. That is what is so pathetic about the situation."

"BTW . . . I am affected by it because I do receive my water from Wartrace but I am not worried about it. I am drinking bottled water and life goes and I will let the water department do its job. But hey, reasoning must be a lost art form nowadays."

"Livestock would not be harmed by this water because they usually drink from creeks and rivers that are far worse than the current water problem.
But yeah, thank god none of these people complaining on here lived back a few decades or maybe even twenty years ago. How would they have survived? I have read so many comments that are basically using this as an excuse to whine about something and it is almost pathetic. No wonder so many people in the world find Americans annoying."

Lack of notification? I have yet to meet anyone who doesnt know about it. When it is on the Nashville news and the newspaper, people do know and that served as a notification.
Believe me, gossip and news has no problem making its way around this area.
I agree with rebelrose and that is what I am trying to get across . . . quit being negative and do something positive!
As I said before Notification is the key. Try not paying your water bill and see how quick you are notified then. They won't even bother to notify you then they just cut it off and let you find out on your own. LACK OF NOTIFICATION!!!!!
JAXSPIKE if you find our whining so offensive then stop reading it. I and my family lived without water for 10 years and used an outhouse for those same 10 years. Simply because we could not afford a tap. So we hauled water raised crops and had livestock. I am only 39 so I know about hard times and the chief complaint that you refuse or are blind to see is that WE ARE UPSET BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF NOTIFICATION! IT IS AND CONTINUES TO BE NEGLIGENT!
Actually I hear that the meeting has been moved to the 28th due to all members not being able to attend Monday night. Once again we are so informed.
I do not believe our live stock has any worries. My goodness they will drink from any place and some of those times the water does not look to clear. We have our town meeting this coming Monday night at 7 PM .We all need to go if we have any questions. Yes I to believe that some of us could and should have found out sooner than they did. But we all learn from our mistakes. But the good thing is that we all did find out from our friends or the news or the paper. Let's just stick together as a town. If we fall apart over something like this then we will never make it thru something really really bad in this town. When it rains it pours ....
Livestock would not be harmed by this water because they usually drink from creeks and rivers that are far worse than the current water problem.

You know the WARTRACE phone directory is not that big hire someone to start there by calling matching this to water bill records, then those that were not notified by phone let the water crew who do everything in wartrace, from playing santa to picking up brush, go to the yet to be notified houses and leave flyers or tell them verbally. Don't wait until the end of the month. Question how does this affect our livestock that have to drink this water? Will they get sick too?
I have not been notified either. If I didn't have good friends to call me, my family would have been very ill by now. I spoke to my friend yesterday, and she has a baby, and if I had not told her...she would not have known either! As a matter of fact, she had just given the baby some water a few minutes before I called her. We are hoping for the best!! God forbid anyone gets hurt due to the cities negligence.
I have still not seen a formal notice in my mailbox or on my door regarding this warning.
