Someone got a new Craftsman weed trimmer for free Wednesday.

The Weed Eater, still in its box, was taken from the Germantown Road garage of Patrick Scott, who is in the process of moving, police said.

Other thefts reported to Shelbyvlle police:

*A purse containing $385 belonging to Kim Reeves of Shelbyville was taken from her car while she was outside a West Lane Street residence Tuesday afternoon.

*Pamila Phommateth reported this week her cell phone was stolen between 6-8 p.m. last Friday while at the carnival in H.V. Griffin Park.

Jail intake

The following persons were arrested since Wednesday by the Shelbyville Police Department, Bedford County Sheriff's Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol or 17th Judicial District Drug Task Force and processed through Bedford County Jail. They are only charged; guilt or innocence will be determined by the courts.

*Jose Alfonzo Alcala, 19, Peacock Lane; theft of property; released, $2,500 bond

*Keith O'Neal Benard, 40, Shelbyville; disorderly conduct, public intoxication; held, $1,500 bond

*Timothy Ford McCain, 18, Shelbyville; criminal conspiracy, criminal responsibility for conduct of another, contributing to the delinquency of a minor; held, $35,000 bond

*Vincent Turrell McGear, 26, Cherokee Trail; failure to appear, domestic assault, resist stop/frisk/halt/search; held, $7,500 bond

*Moises De La Cruz Mendez, 38, Woodland Avenue; violation of probation; released, $2,500 bond

*Joshua Lamont Sims, 27, Charles Street; theft of property; held, $2,500 bond
