Tickets are on sale now for "Symphony at the Celebration," the annual concert by the Grammy-award-winning Nashville Symphony at Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville.

This year's concert will be April 29. As always, it will be casual and family-friendly, with children and students admitted free of charge. (College or adult students should bring student ID.) Assistant Conductor Kelly Corcoran will lead the symphony, and the concert will feature a guest performance by the Cascade High School Band, which will also join the symphony in playing the "1812 Overture" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" to conclude the concert.

The Motlow College Jazz Band will provide pre-concert and intermission entertainment, and there will be a presentation of colors by the local National Guard unit prior to the National Anthem.

Tickets for the concert went on sale last week at all Shelbyville and Tullahoma locations of Regions Bank. Adult general admission is $5. Box seat tickets are available only at the Elm Street location of Regions Bank and are $10 in groups of 6 or 8.

Because of sponsorships, all ticket proceeds will benefit Bedford County Arts Council.

The concert is hosted by The Celebration and the arts council. Regions Bank is the corporate sponsor for the Nashville Symphony's community concert series, and Economy Pen & Pencil is also a sponsor of the local concert.

The program for this year's concert will mix classical, popular and patriotic music, from Brahms to the Beatles. No knowledge of classical music is required to enjoy the event.

The pre-concert, featuring the Motlow jazz band, begins at 6 p.m., along with an art show on the arena concourse. Art work will range from the drawings of school children to paintings by professional artists. Those attending the pre-concert are encouraged to bring a picnic, box lunch or other meal, and the arena will have concessions available as well.

The symphony will take the stage at 7 p.m.
