The playing surface was less than ideal, depending on who you ask.

Soccer is one sport that doesn't necessarily need a dry surface to complete on for 80 minutes of play. However, three straight days of consistent rainfall ran a toll on Lagler Field in Bell Buckle -- and on the Webb Feet.

The Feet spun their wheels in the soggy surface time and time again and couldn't get on the board offensively and fell 1-0 to region foe King's Academy on Saturday.

"The conditions did (play a role)," Webb coach Adrian Anderson said. "We out-skilled them all over the field, except on all of our cuts, our feet were coming out from underneath us. The one goal that they did score was a deflection off my center-back because he slipped with his other foot, it hit off him and went into the goal."

Feet junior goalkeeper Zach Crownover slid, dove and pawed every shot from the visitors from Seymour. The lone ball put past him into the net was an own goal credited to the Lions' Tim Eichinger.

"Zach did a good job in the goal, but he didn't do anything super special," Anderson said. "Zach was just Zach. That's the kind of games I expect out of him all the time."

Crownover finished with eight saves.

Sam Witt manned the nets in the shutout for the Lions.

"It was frustrating to me because we had too many opportunities where we were literally one pass away from scoring," Anderson said.

Webb's record drops to 3-1-2. King's improved their mark to 4-2.
