Cascade avoided any notions of revenge for Moore County, shutting down the Raiderettes 5-0 in non-district action in Wartrace.

The Lady Champions ruined Moore County's home opener with a come-from-behind victory in their final at-bat back on March 11.

They didn't wait nearly as long in this one to wake up the sticks.

In the bottom of the third, a double by Aimee Taylor and singles by both Fatima Murillo and Laura Jett provided the trunk to the tree of success at the dish that blossomed into all five of their runs.

Starting pitcher Leigha Carter had all the runs she needed from there. She struck out a pair and didn't walk a batter en route to her second straight shutout.

"The girls came out and played pretty good defense, hit the ball fairly well all game long," second-year Cascade coach Jeremy Austin said. "We had a few bad choices at the plate and a few errors in the field, but all in all it was a pretty productive day for us all the way down the lineup."

Murillo led the Lady Champs (8-3) in the hitting department with two singles.

Amber Howell had a pair of base knocks for Moore County (6-6).

The Orange and Black get some time off to enjoy prom this weekend before hopping back into District 9-A play next week. They host Eagleville on Monday at 5:30.
