Tickets for the April 29 concert are now on sale at all Regions Bank locations in Shelbyville and Tullahoma.
"I am very much looking forward to the Shelbyville concert," said Corcoran. "The program features a range of repertoire offering something for everyone. Some of my favorites include Gershwin's 'Girl Crazy Overture,' with great tunes like 'I Got Rhythm' and 'Embraceable You,' and a tribute to the Beatles with songs like 'All You Need Is Love' and 'Yesterday.' We're also playing some John Williams; great, energetic dances by Brahms and Dvorak; and much more."
This will be Corcoran's first visit to Shelbyville.
"I'm especially looking forward to performing side-by-side with the students from Cascade High School," she said.
The Cascade band will play two songs on its own during the first act of the concert and will then return to play along with the symphony during the grand finale, which includes the "1812 Overture" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever."
Corcoran will visit Cascade prior to the day of the concert to work with the band.
Last year's concert featured the Community High School band, as local organizers have been rotating through the three local high schools.
"We are excited to bring orchestral music to your community," said Corcoran. "If you have never heard an orchestra in live performance, now is the time."
The concert is casual dress and family-friendly, with all children and students admitted free of charge. (College students should bring ID.) Adult general admission is only $5. Box seats are also available at the Elm Street location of Regions Bank.
All ticket proceeds benefit Bedford County Arts Council.
Pre-concert activities will start at 6 p.m. with a performance by the Motlow College Jazz Band and an art show on the Calsonic Arena concourse. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic or brown-bag supper or purchase concessions. The concert proper will start at 7, as the Symphony performs "The Star-Spangled Banner" and a color guard from the local National Guard unit presents the flag.
The Motlow jazz band will return to entertain during intermission.
The concert is scheduled to end about 8:45.
The annual concert is hosted by The Celebration and Bedford County Arts Council. Regions Bank is the area-wide sponsor of the Nashville Symphony's community concert series. Economy Pen & Pencil Company is also a sponsor of the Shelbyville concert.
