Charles Gilbert Tucker, a native of Bedford County, was born November 30, 1940. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army after graduation from Middle Tennessee State University in 1962. On the same day he graduated from MTSU he left for Camp Irwin, California, and had left Ft. Irwin briefly to attend and complete the officers basic course training at Armor School at Ft. Knox, Ky. He attended flight school at Ft. Bennings, Ga. After promotion to first lieutenant he served as company commander of Company B in the 2nd Battalion. He attended the Army Aviation School and qualified for fixed-wing and rotary-wing pilot. He was promoted to Captain on February 26, 1965. After graduation he was assigned to the Republic of Vietnam where he was killed during an assault combat mission on April 6, 1965. He received the Purple Heart Medal for his actions in Vietnam.

Pfc. Larry Eugene Mullins was a native of Bedford County. He was born October 27, 1950, and attended Community High School in Unionville. He volunteered for the U.S. Marines in May of 1969 and planned to further his education while in the service. He did his basic training at Camp Pendleton, Ca. His tour of duty began on November 15, 1969. He died on April 1, 1970 from wounds he suffered from hostile ground fire. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medal for his actions in Vietnam.

The Moving Wall - Vietnam War Memorial will come to Shelbyville from Oct. 29 through Nov. 3, and will be set up at Riverwalk Park for viewing. This moving tribute, a replica of the wall that stands in Washington, D.C., memorializes American service members who died during the Vietnam War. The Moving Wall travels throughout the U.S. and is set up in communities that were home to some of those whose names are inscribed on the wall.
